CASA is a non-profit housing provider with a mission to provide access to stable, affordable housing for people who are homeless or at risk by developing and managing rental communities.

Since 1992, CASA has focused on building and managing affordable housing for low-income families and individuals, with an emphasis on people experiencing homelessness. CASA manages nearly 500 affordable apartments across 50 sites in Wake, Durham, and Orange counties and has 180+ apartments in the pipeline for new construction development.


OVERIVEW

King’s Ridge is a new construction permanent, supportive housing community that will end homelessness for 100 households and provide onsite supportive services to include integrated physical and behavioral healthcare, case management, enrichment activities, and more. CASA follows a Housing First approach and King’s Ridge is its largest permanent, supportive housing community to date.

CASA is currently seeking a Director for our newly constructed King's Ridge property. The Director is responsible for leadership of program operations and development, financial management and compliance, and community partnerships. The incumbent will create and foster a trauma-informed care environment and build collaborative partnerships with onsite agencies and volunteers. Promotion of CASA's mission is maintained at the highest quality of supportive housing and working toward the goal that no resident faces homelessness again. The Director must be a decisive leader, experienced Housing First advocate, effective internal and external communicator, and effective representative of the King’s Ridge model within the local community, both leading up to and after its opening. The Director must have the ability to build and nurture partnerships that support King’s Ridge residents to maintain their stable housing, improve their health outcomes and quality of life.

 

The King’s Ridge Director will report to CASA’s Chief Operations Officer.


ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure a high standard of housing provision and service delivery, with the overall goal of helping each resident household successfully transition to housing and remain stably housed
  • Provide leadership which supports, challenges, and inspires staff, volunteers and residents
  • Provide effective decision-making regarding building, programmatic, staff, and resident issues
  • Foster and maintain a program culture that is aligned with the Housing First approach and Trauma Informed Care model
  • Ensure program requirements with grants, contracts, and all Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) are maintained
  • Manage fiscal resources well and maintain program records in accordance with a variety of funding and regulatory requirements
  • Work with Leasing Staff to facilitate a tenant-centered, team-based approach to ensuring timely rent collection and lease compliance
  • Work with Facilities Management to ensure robust property management for routine and emergency maintenance and upkeep
  • Maintain a strong, positive image for the program and establish effective relationships with community partners and external stakeholders
  • Facilitate King’s Ridge Community Advisory Group meetings.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably master’s degree in related field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 8 years’ supervisory and managerial experience
  • Significant experience in supportive housing, homeless services, and/or other affordable/subsidized housing; hands on experience in housing first strongly preferred
  • Experience working with single adults with disabilities and with families experiencing homelessness
    • Strong commitment to serving vulnerable populations and to the housing first approach; prior experience opening and/or implementing housing first programs preferred
    • Proficiency managing collaborative partnerships, government grants and contracts
    • Superior conflict resolution and oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    • Position involves standing and sitting for most of the day
    • Position requires lifting up to 20 lbs occasionally.
